For the Community:

We recognize that our community and the neighboring communities (mutual aid) is the reason for our presence. We value the communities trust and faith in us and strive to earn the confidence through our professionalism and accomplishments.  We practice, lives are more valuable than property.  The safety of the public and our members is of paramount importance.

For the Department:

We strive for excellence in everything through continuous training and education.  We as a department are continually encouraged to improve ourselves in every aspect of our lives.  Through our meetings/drills we strive for excellence and encourage new ideas and technology.  We are professionals and are expected to act as professional/courteous at all times.  We are aware of changes in the community and adapt to it willingly.

Accomplishments:

The Val Verde County Fire Rescue organized in 1998 with only one (1) 1973 Mack Engine and two (2) Army Trucks with no pumping capabilities.  With the aid of a grant in (1999) Val Verde County provided us with four (4) fire stations with three (3) bays in each and four (4) quick attack trucks.

Today we have increased the size of the fire station on Cienegas Road to house nine (9) fire vehicles and added a training room, kitchen, office and break room.  We are in the process of increasing the size of the fire station on Cienegas Road to house five (5) additional fire vehicles.

As of this date we have four (4) Engines, three (3) Attack Trucks, one (1) Rescue Truck, eight (8) Brush Trucks and one (1) Semi Tanker with 5,000 gallon water and two (2) Command Trucks.

The communities ISO rating has been lowered from a “10” (the lowest possible) to a “6” – “9”.

We have had two (2) firefighters of the Year to go on to receive Firefighter of the Year at Wintergarden District Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association.
